(949) 529-1990
Janet Carraman, founder and president of Phoenix Arise Organization. She was born and raised in Santa Ana, CA. First-generation Chicana from Mexican immigrant parents who only received an elementary school grade education. She’s a trailblazer breaking generational traumas, curses, and bondage. Janet has almost twenty years of business and finance management. Janet is a survivor of rape, domestic violence, and suicide. She was also forced to be a single mother due to family separation by immigration. In 2017, she was released from incarceration. In 2021, she followed God’s new calling and purpose. She decided to return to higher education, but there were few re-entry services in Orange County, CA. Through F.I.R.S.T (Formerly Incarcerated Reentry Students Thrive) she ended up at El Camino College, where she received her associate of arts in psychology. F.I.R.S.T was the bridge that filled that gap in higher education and assisted her in coming to Cal State University, Fullerton. She’s pursuing a bachelor’s in psychology with a minor in public administration. She recently got accepted as a McNair Scholar to pursue her doctoral degree. She aims to continue researching the trauma of incarcerated women and their child-parent bond. Janet’s prayer is to continue to be a woman of God and to leave a legacy of healing, restoration, and empowerment for her daughters, family, friends, and community.
